Herbs and
Flowers
As you become aware of mother
earth and all
that she is, and does for us, each and every day,
you will begin to understand and wonder
at the gifts she gives us. Namely, herbs and flowers.
Below is just a small example of
herbs that you
can either buy or cultivate yourself.
Remember, any medicinal herb you
take, may
be in conflict with any prescription type medication
you receive from your doctor. You must let your
doctor know what you are taking herb-wise, (if other than just using as spices in
cooking.
If you are considering taking any
kind of herbal medication
and are taking any kind of drugs either over the counter or with a prescription,
you must discuss this with your physician first.
In case of any severe and sometimes deadly
combinations. This is in reference to medicinal herbs.
So I take no responsibility
in naming these herbs. It is your job as a
responsible and smart adult to find out what
might be in conflict with whatever prescribed
medication, you may also be taking.
There are wonderful books out there on the
subject of herbs. Buy a few. Cross reference and
always know what you are taking and what the
side effects might be. And always let your physician
know what you are taking or plan to be taking.
The following are just some of the
most common herbs. Most of which, can be grown in your own garden.
Further research and study on your part,
will teach you so much more.
Your Magickal Cabinet of Herbs
Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
This herb is an annual that best
flourishes when it is planted in
full sun. It is used in a variety
of dishes. Basil is one of the
most sacred herbs of India.
It helps in strenghthening the
immune system and helps clear the aura.
A basil plant is recommended
to keep in your home for its purifying effects.
Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis)
When you usually think of chamomile
you think of tea.
As with most things, in moderate
amounts it is good for all constitutions.
It is a very balancing herb for the emotions.
And used for relaxing and to help sleep.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum;Lauraceae)
Cinnamon helps with the
strengthening and flow of circulation.
Works as an expectorant with colds and flus.
It can be used as a pain reliever for toothaches. It is an ancient herbal medicine.
Chives (Alliums of garlic and Onion)
Chives are great for culinary uses
as well as medicinal use.
Chives do best in full to partial sun.
